Mitigation and Mitigation Benefits

Mitigation

Mitigation is "an anthropogenic intervention to reduce the anthropogenic forcing of the climate system; it includes strategies to reduce greenhouse gas sources and emissions and enhancing greenhouse gas sinks" (IPCC, WG II, 2007).

Mitigation Benefits

Within the AMICA project, three types of mitigation benefits are distinguished which represent different ways of achieving mitigation of climate change: energy efficiency/savings, use of renewable energies and CO2 sequestration.
