Storage Hydro Power Stations

Storage hydro power stations are able to smooth the electricity demand and supply: in times with low electricity demand, the excess electrical energy is used to pump water in a storage basin at higher altitude; in times with high electricity demand, this water is used to drive turbines generating electricity to meet the lack of supply.

By this, supply security is enhanced while at the same time reducing carbon dioxide emissions using hydropower as a renewable energy source.
